It is with heartfelt sadness that we share the news of the Passing of Les Kearney
Les was a great advocate of the Flying Fifteen fraternity and his wit and knowledge will be sorely missed
Love and thoughts to Verna and family, vale Sir Les
Les joined FFI-V in late 90's and owned several flying fifteens and made guest appearances on many others.
Les did a guest appearance on 2385 "In The Pink" in the 2002 Nationals at GLYC finishing a creditable 24th overall.
Les owned & sailed 2250 "Euffamism" and won the FFI-V States Classic Division in 2004.
He would then acquire 962 "Affrodite" and as crew for Reagan Burdon-Bear would have many successes in the Classic Division including 1st Classic in the 2013 Australian Championships.
He then purchased 3562 "Slightly Ffirmer" (name changed in 2016 to "RRR's over the side")
In July 2007 Les had a short stint of 9 months as President of FFI-V handing this back at the following March 2008 AGM.
Les became a Flying Fifteen Measurer following this and regularly assisted in this capacity at regattas.
In 2013 Les joined the FFI-V Committee and in 2014 became Vice President until he moved to Queensland in 2017.
